Kenny Wessel
PT, DPT, OCS
Kenny is a Doctor of Physical Therapy, a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy, a Board-Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS). Kenny also serves as an adjunct faculty member at his alma mater, Mercer University, teaching Applied Anatomy and Foundations of Human Movement for the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. Kenny is from Greenville, South Carolina and went to Winthrop University where he graduated with his Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and a Minor in Coaching. He completed his Doctoral degree at Mercer University in Atlanta where he also completed his Orthopedic Residency while working in Saint Simons Island, Georgia.
Kenny has founded his care on the principle to treat each and every patient individually to help maximize their quality of life and achieve their functional and exercise goals. Kenny’s interest in physical therapy started after tearing his ACL in high school where he noticed the importance of treating each person separately instead of as one specific body part. During undergraduate, graduate, and post-professional studies, Kenny developed a passion for treating patients with persistent pain. Kenny also has a passion for treating athletes, especially golfers, runners, and hockey players. During his Orthopedic Residency in Saint Simons Island, Kenny continued to develop his passion and skill set working with golfers of all ages and skills from beginners to PGA and major winning professionals.
Kenny prides himself on being empathetic, understanding, and helping his patients feel empowered and efficacious in their own healing. Kenny is married to his lovely wife, Sarah, who is a pediatric physical therapist. When Kenny is not working, you can often find him playing golf, running, or trying new baking recipes (usually requested by Sarah after watching the Great British Bake Off).
